It has taken two years for Christopher McGuiney to finally plead guilty to killing the only dad I knew, Duane Pearson. At 3PM today he plead guilty. Christopher had two previous convictions for drinking and driving before he killed someone. If the judicial system had harsher penalties for people that drink and drive my dad’s death could have been prevented. We need to stop slapping people on the wrist for drinking and driving. Drinking and driving laws need to change in Canada. If Chris had killed my dad in California, he would be in jail fighting for his rights, he wouldn’t be out awaiting his hearings in the comfort of his own home. Maybe if there were stricter laws in effect the first time Christopher McGuiney was convicted of a DUI he wouldn’t have had the chance to take someone’s life away.
